'I went in early and saw nothing at all'

On Phil Brown's claim that Fabregas spat at Brian Horton's shoes…
"[I saw] nothing. I think we saw a good football team against a Hull team who fought very hard. We needed special qualities and special mental strengths and we have shown that. In the end we won the game and we deserved to win because we created many chances. Hull did throw their body in on every single ball but I don’t know what happened after the game.

"For me football is interesting and it looks to me like you have seen 95 minutes of good football and that is what’s most important."

On asking Cesc about the 'incident'…
“There was no incident. I haven’t seen anything, I went in early and I saw nothing at all.”

On whether he would expect Phil Brown to lie…
"I don’t know what he has seen. You asked me what I have seen and I say nothing. I am here to speak about football and I’m not a specialist who creates newspaper stories or creates minor things that might have happened that I didn’t see. I’m sorry I can’t speak about something I did not see."

On whether the winning goal was offside…
“It is not offside, I am sorry to say. The ball was deflected by the fist of the goalkeeper so consequently the ball comes from an opponent so it’s a normal goal. It touched Djourou first, the goalkeeper after, then it was a foul on Gallas. Penalty! In fact, we should have had two goals.”

On why he didn't shake Phil Brown's hand…
"There was nobody there. After the game I went to shake his hand but there was nobody there. Pat Rice went to see him, but when the game has finished I walk in and wait for the manager; he knows that I will be there. He didn’t turn up so I went to the dressing room. I will shake his hand now I have no problem with that. Of course [I would shake his hand] why not? But when there is nobody why should I wait?"

On whether he put pressure on officials to book players…
“In your opinion did their goalkeeper waste time or not? The groundsman here, or anyone who sits in the stand, can have a better opinion than I have. Or a more objective view anyway because I am sitting on the Arsenal bench. I ask you, did their goalkeeper waste time or not? I am confident that you will say yes. If you ask me can I understand that, of course I can understand that completely.

"I cannot say to the fourth official, of course it is right, let him do it. It is too quick now to slow everything down.”

On rumours of a half-time exchange between him and Brian Horton…

“No. I have been here for 12 years and I have seen a lot of incidents in the tunnel. But you have never seen me in a press conference come out and say ‘he did this’ or ‘he did that’ never. It is very disappointing [that an opposing manager would do that].“

On whether he will investigate any allegation against Cesc…
“I will just stick to what I have said now.”

On reaching the Semi-Final…
“At last we talk about football. Of course we are here because we want to get to the Final. Being 1-0 down and playing against a Hull team who played a real cup game and were in the form of the start of their season tonight. We needed something special to win the game.

"Frankly if you look at the second half, they had one shot on goal from Geovanni who was quite dangerous but apart from that it was one-way traffic.”

On the importance of winning trophies…

“Yes. That is the reproach we get in the newspapers but I believe it is most important to keep our spirit and to focus on improving the quality of our performance in every game. We want to get everybody on board into good shape and we will be dangerous for everybody.”

On whether Andrey arshavin played with stitches…
“Yes. With seven stitches - he could not put his boot on yesterday but he played tonight and he played well.”

On whether manuel Almunia will miss the Newcastle game…

“Not necessarily. I think he has a good chance to be fit.”

Walcott - We deserved our good fortune

Theo Walcott believes Arsenal deserved their good fortune in Tuesday’s FA Cup Quarter-Final against Hull at Emirates Stadium.

William Gallas appeared to be clearly offside when Johan Djourou flicked on a free-kick from Samir Nasri six minutes from time. But no flag was raised and the French centre back gleefully nodded Arsenal into the Semi-Final date with Chelsea on April 18.

“In a way, the winning goal was the sort of luck you need to win the FA Cup,” said Walcott. “The cameras showed it was offside and it's the referee's decision in the end. We can't do anything about that but we deserved it.

“I suppose that’s the FA Cup for you. As long as you get through it doesn’t matter how you play. We played very well at stages, we got the win and we are going to Wembley which is brilliant for all the lads and the fans.”

The contentious goal secured a breathless comeback. Hull had led through Nick Barmby’s deflected strike after 12 minutes. Arsenal struggled in the first half as Hull tried to kill the tie but they were revitalised after the break. Robin van Persie slammed home the equaliser in the 74th minute then Gallas completed a controversial denouement.

“I thought it was a tough game and all the players gave a 100 per cent,” said Walcott. “I was just getting on with the game but there was quite a bit of time-wasting. When you play against the big teams you try and slow the game down. But there was no animosity about that.”

Fabregas – We can beat anyone in Euro draw

“We are in the Quarter-Finals, among the eight best teams in Europe, and we are there on merit. We deserve to be there, and it's serious now. If you want to win this competition you have to beat the best players in the world and now is that time.

“In the first knockout round there are still one or two teams that are not that powerful, but in the Quarter-Finals only the best eight teams are there.

“We are looking forward to that. We have already played against six of the seven other teams left in the Champions League during my time at the Club. Manchester United are the only team we haven't faced before in Europe.”
